Beth Dougherty
Beth Dougherty graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1993 with a degree in Graphic Design. She worked for ten years in advertising before deciding to take a break from her design career and concentrate on raising her growing family. On her "break" she reconnected with her childhood love of painting and drawing.
Since 2003, Beth has taken many classes at the Corcoran School of Art + Design and The Art League School in Alexandria, VA. She has also studied under many accomplished artists in workshops in the US and abroad.
Beth Dougherty says painting pictures of food or landscapes make her appreciate the beauty and abundance of life. She uses bold, bright colors and rich, buttery paint textures to evoke a bright mood. She has always been drawn to bright colors and patterns and cites the influence of modern day painters like Janet Fish and masters like Henri Matisse and Vincent Van Gogh.
Beth moved to Kaiserslautern, Germany with her husband, two daughters, dog and cat in August 2016 and has had a blast adjusting to life in Europe.
